PROGRAM NOTES from the composer:
"Three Lenten Psalms" was written for The Church-in-the-Gardens in 2018 for the Lenten season for its inclusion in Marcia McFee’s Lenten worship series “Listen”. It is a 10 minute work which can be performed with organ or piano accompaniment and optional handbells. The vocal writing it simple enough for an amateur choir to learn but offers a deeply spiritual, somber, and effective interpretation of the text from "Sing to "God a New Song" (Psalm 33), "In the Mornin'" (Psalm 5) and "They Mounted Up to Heaven" (Psalm 107).
