PROGRAM NOTES by the composer:
"The Fantastic Flute" was written for flutist Carol Shansky whose initals C-a-S-h are written into the piece (translated as C-A-Eb-B).  While the construction of the whole work is organized around a 12-tone row, the typical audience member would hear a fantasty of flourishing flute writing intended for the virtuosic and heartfelt performer.
